Folk Valley Cat is a TikTok meme series built on edits of a gray cat with yellow eyes who is restyled with new haircuts and cast as a resident of the fictional town of Folk Valley. The cat broke out in late May 2026 as part of the Folk Valley and Hood Irony meme wave on TikTok.
Origin
The Folk Valley universe started taking shape on TikTok in March 2026, with users tagging clips from the fictional 'Folk Valley' location[3]. Overview
Folk Valley Cat is a series of surreal Hood Irony edits centered on a gray cat with yellow eyes, restyled with new haircuts, filters, and effects in each version[1]. The cat is depicted as a resident of Folk Valley, a fictional U.S. town invented on TikTok that ties into the 'folk' slang at the heart of the Hood Irony scene[3]. Most Folk Valley Cat clips ride a loop of birds chirping, adding to the dreamy, slightly off vibe of the edits[1].
Sometimes called Mr. Folk or simply Folk, the cat became the breakout character of the Folk Valley universe in late May 2026 after a wave of edits hit big on TikTok[5]. The aesthetic sits next to Ohio memes and the surreal mood of the TikTok Farlands trend[2].
How It Spread
Folk Valley edits kept hitting in late May 2026, with the cat anchoring most of the breakout videos[3]. On May 24th, 2026, TikToker @thejimmyyogurt posted a clip framing the cat, here called Mr. Folk, as having hacked the user's PlayStation account, racking up more than 970,000 views in three days[5].
Two days later, on May 26th, TikToker @platengymnasietmotala posted a version that swapped the Folk Valley location tag for 'Folkstaden,' with the Swedish-flavored variant pushing past 200,000 views in a day[6]. The Folkstaden riff helped the cat jump beyond English-speaking TikTok and showed how easily the format ports to local twists[1].
How to Use
A typical Folk Valley Cat edit takes the gray, yellow-eyed cat photo and runs it through fast haircut swaps, color filters, and glitchy effects, then drops it into a clip location-tagged from Folk Valley[1]. Bird chirping audio is the common backing track, and captions often play up the cat as a low-key local menace or unofficial mayor of the town[5].
