{"id":"world-war-iii","name":"World War III","summary":"World War III (also written WW3 and WWIII) is a recurring meme format where users joke about the imminent outbreak of a global war whenever major geopolitical events hit the news[1]. The format spikes in waves tied to real crises, most famously after the January 2020 US drone strike that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani[2]. Jokes typically center on draft notices, meme veterans, and Gen Z reacting to potential conscription[3].","tags":["world war iii meme","ww3 meme","wwiii","draft memes","soleimani memes","ukraine war memes","geopolitical memes"],"howToUse":[],"imageCount":6,"nsfw":false,"images":[{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/world-war-iii/world-war-iii-nuclear-explosion-city-cover.webp","caption":"A dramatic depiction of a nuclear explosion over a city, commonly used as the cover image for the World War III meme.","width":1920,"height":1080,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/world-war-iii/world-war-iii-clinton-syria-ww3-meme.webp","caption":"A political meme jabbing at Hillary Clinton over her Syria policy stance during the 2016 election.","width":481,"height":486,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/world-war-iii/world-war-iii-emperor-trump-cnn-fake.webp","caption":"A satirical CNN Breaking News mock-up showing 'Emperor Trump' congratulating World War 3 veterans in 2029.","width":680,"height":680,"nsfw":true},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/world-war-iii/world-war-iii-jordan-draft-letter-meme.webp","caption":"A Michael Jordan reaction meme contrasting amusement at WW3 memes with the dread of receiving a draft letter.","width":680,"height":610,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/world-war-iii/world-war-iii-trump-sleep-ladders-meme.webp","caption":"A 'sleep/real shit' format meme of Donald Trump reacting to WW3 warnings and border wall jokes.","width":680,"height":589,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/world-war-iii/world-war-iii-spongebob-shook-killstreak-meme.webp","caption":"A SpongeBob 'shook' meme referencing Call of Duty tactical nukes in the context of being drafted into World War III.","width":643,"height":594,"nsfw":false}],"historyUrl":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/world-war-iii/history.md","related":["microplastics","monitoring-the-situation","2018-2019-united-states-government-shutdown","hurricane-maria"],"popularityRank":4051,"license":"Meme images and history: templates, screenshots, photos and fan edits, many of copyrighted material or real people.
