{"id":"v-j-day-in-times-square","name":"V-J Day in Times Square","summary":"V-J Day in Times Square, also known as The Kiss, is Alfred Eisenstaedt's August 14th, 1945 photograph of a U.S. Navy sailor dipping and kissing a woman in a white dress during Times Square celebrations of Japan's surrender[1]. LIFE magazine ran the picture the following week in its Victory Celebrations feature, and it later became the source of decades of identification feuds, anniversary reenactments and parody edits online[4].","tags":["v-j day in times square","the kiss photo","alfred eisenstaedt","life magazine 1945","kissing sailor","george mendonsa","greta friedman","glenn mcduffie","times square kiss","wwii photograph"],"howToUse":[],"imageCount":2,"nsfw":false,"images":[{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/v-j-day-in-times-square/v-j-day-in-times-square-facebook-ban-this-pic-post.webp","caption":"A viral Facebook post reacting to debates over the photograph, reposting it with the caption \"They're trying to ban this pic so lets making it famous again.\"","width":1011,"height":1920,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/v-j-day-in-times-square/v-j-day-in-times-square-kobra-vj-day-mural.webp","caption":"Eduardo Kobra's vibrant street mural in New York City reinterpreting the V-J Day kiss in his signature kaleidoscopic style.","width":900,"height":600,"nsfw":false}],"historyUrl":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/v-j-day-in-times-square/history.md","related":["monkey-selfie","old-school-cool","foam-party-girl-aoradj-look-and-bounce-video","nerd-party","home-taping-is-killing-music","president-glen-powell-john-politics","the-s-doodle","kilroy-was-here","comic-strips","complaint-tablet-to-ea-nasir","gadsden-flag-don-t-tread-on-me","popeye-the-sailor-man"],"popularityRank":2716,"license":"Meme images and history: templates, screenshots, photos and fan edits, many of copyrighted material or real people.
