{"id":"thetriggering","name":"#TheTriggering","summary":"#TheTriggering was a two-day hashtag campaign launched by Canadian conservative commentator Lauren Southern on March 9th and 10th, 2016, where participants flooded Twitter with intentionally offensive posts framed as a free-speech protest against political correctness. The tag trended worldwide, drawing sympathetic coverage from Infowars alongside sharp pushback from feminist outlets like The Mary Sue, and became one of the widely covered anti-SJW organizing stunts of mid-2010s Twitter.","tags":["#TheTriggering","Lauren Southern","hashtag campaign","anti-SJW","political correctness","Twitter 2016","free speech","Age of Shitlords"],"howToUse":[],"imageCount":4,"nsfw":false,"images":[{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/thetriggering/thetriggering-thetriggering-2016-banner.webp","caption":"The primary promotional image for #TheTriggering, featuring Lauren Southern, who originated the hashtag in September 2015.","width":696,"height":696,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/thetriggering/thetriggering-twitter-suppression-tweet.webp","caption":"Martin Daubney alleging that Twitter was suppressing #TheTriggering from autocomplete suggestions during the event.","width":516,"height":583,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/thetriggering/thetriggering-vappywave-parody-comic.webp","caption":"A parody tweet by @vappywave mocking #TheTriggering using a Pokémon fan comic.","width":431,"height":742,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/thetriggering/thetriggering-social-00.webp","caption":"#TheTriggering","width":600,"height":576,"nsfw":false}],"historyUrl":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/thetriggering/history.md","related":["hands-up-dont-shoot","the-confederate-flag-debate","gamergate","donald-trumps-hollywood-star","art-just-became-accessible","i-support-the-current-thing","dr-ally-louks-olfactory-ethics-the-politics-of-smell-in-modern-and-contemporary-prose-phd-study","internet-bloodsports","race-swapping","regressive-left","social-justice-warrior","triggered-feminist--2"],"popularityRank":986,"license":"Meme images and history: templates, screenshots, photos and fan edits, many of copyrighted material or real people.
