{"id":"punished-snake","name":"Punished Snake","summary":"Punished Snake is a 2013 exploitable meme based on Metal Gear Solid V's scarred, eyepatch-wearing 'Venom' Snake, fueling 'Punished [Name]' identity jokes.","tags":[],"howToUse":["**Name edit:** Take a public figure or fictional character who just experienced a setback. Add \"Punished\" before their name in a dramatic title card, imitating the *MGSV* style. Example: \"Punished Zuckerberg: A CEO Denied His Metaverse.\"","**Horn and eyepatch edit:** Photoshop the shrapnel horn and eyepatch onto a photo of someone. The more mundane the original context, the funnier the contrast.","**\"Literally me\" posting:** Post an image of Punished Snake (or any stoic, scarred character) with the caption \"literally me\" to ironically or semi-ironically identify with the character's tortured anti-hero energy."],"imageCount":6,"nsfw":false,"images":[{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/punished-snake/punished-snake-original-title-card.webp","caption":"The original in-game title card that spawned the meme format.","width":100,"height":100,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/punished-snake/punished-snake-hideo-kojima.webp","caption":"Punished Hideo referencing Kojima's split from Konami.","width":680,"height":383,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/punished-snake/punished-snake-trump-political.webp","caption":"Political variant of the Punished Snake meme template.","width":540,"height":360,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/punished-snake/punished-snake-snack-dorito.webp","caption":"Punished Snack pun featuring a creative chip-based eye patch.","width":629,"height":403,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/punished-snake/punished-snake-woolie-madden.webp","caption":"Punished Woolie meme featuring content creator Woolie Madden.","width":680,"height":382,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/punished-snake/punished-snake-farewell-webcomic.webp","caption":"Fan art depicting an emotional departure scene.","width":680,"height":576,"nsfw":false}],"historyUrl":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/punished-snake/history.md","related":["a-hideo-kojima-game","a-weapon-to-surpass-metal-gear","metal-gear-codec-screen","metal-gear-solid-enemy-alert","hideo-kojima","hideo-kojima-feet-scans-foot-fetish","jetstream-sam","metal-gear","metal-gear-solid-v","raiden-punching-armstrong-standing-here-i-realize","such-a-lust-for-revenge","they-played-us-like-a-damn-fiddle"],"popularityRank":1210,"license":"Meme images and history: templates, screenshots, photos and fan edits, many of copyrighted material or real people.
