{"id":"perpendicular-fueling","name":"Perpendicular Fueling","summary":"Perpendicular Fueling is a TikTok trend where drivers back their car up to a gas pump and fill the tank with the trunk facing the nozzle instead of the side. A 2014 Instagram photo documented the first known case, but the format took off in late September 2021 on TikTok and quickly spawned a wave of 'perpendicular' spin-offs covering benching, learning, grocery shopping and more.","tags":["perpendicular fueling","tiktok trend","crunched.diff","perpendicular benching","perpendicular learning","gas pump meme"],"howToUse":[],"imageCount":9,"nsfw":false,"images":[{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/perpendicular-fueling/perpendicular-fueling-perpendicular-tiktoks-header-collage.webp","caption":"Header image for the Perpendicular Fueling meme, showcasing the trend of mundane activities performed sideways or perpendicular to their intended orientation.","width":1200,"height":675,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/perpendicular-fueling/perpendicular-fueling-oghoul-instagram-perpendicular-fuel.webp","caption":"An early example of the 'perpendicular fueling' concept — a Giant Eagle GetGo customer stretches the gas hose over the roof of their SUV rather than lining up with the pump.","width":680,"height":592,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/perpendicular-fueling/perpendicular-fueling-perpendicular-learning-tiktok.webp","caption":"A variation of the perpendicular trend applied to school, where a student completes classwork while lying perpendicular to their desk and chair.","width":1050,"height":1558,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/perpendicular-fueling/perpendicular-fueling-fuck-it-perpendicular-learning.webp","caption":"Another entry in the perpendicular meme series, this time a classroom spin: a student collapses perpendicular to the floor during a lesson.","width":994,"height":1538,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/perpendicular-fueling/perpendicular-fueling-perpendicular-parking-jetta.webp","caption":"A perpendicular parking riff on the trend: a lowered Jetta parked across a driveway as a response to the perpendicular fueling meme.","width":1048,"height":1522,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/perpendicular-fueling/perpendicular-fueling-reverse-perpendicular-fueling-mercedes.webp","caption":"An escalated take on the trend: 'opposite side reverse perpendicular fueling,' where the driver stretches the hose fully across the car from the opposite pump.","width":1044,"height":1608,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/perpendicular-fueling/perpendicular-fueling-perpendicular-ordering-smoothie-king.webp","caption":"Another perpendicular variation applied to a drive-thru: a Ford Fusion stops sideways at a Smoothie King window to place an order.","width":1052,"height":1554,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/perpendicular-fueling/perpendicular-fueling-perpendicular-keyboard-tiktok.webp","caption":"A perpendicular meme spin on PC use, with a sideways-oriented mechanical keyboard replacing the familiar landscape layout.","width":1054,"height":1582,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/perpendicular-fueling/perpendicular-fueling-perpendicular-grocery-shopping.webp","caption":"A workplace twist on the perpendicular trend: two grocery clerks drape themselves across shopping carts to 'shop' sideways.","width":1060,"height":1602,"nsfw":false}],"historyUrl":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/perpendicular-fueling/history.md","related":["slaps-roof-of-car","the-i-am-not-a-fish-hiccups-cure","when-you-get-to-heaven-but-its-chinese","pookie","ohio-meme","kid-named-finger","pepe-king-prawn","jellybean-memes","420doggface208s-dreams-skateboarding-video","5-big-booms","dany-slicer","devious-licks-trend"],"popularityRank":4355,"license":"Meme images and history: templates, screenshots, photos and fan edits, many of copyrighted material or real people.
