{"id":"npc-streaming","name":"NPC Streaming","summary":"NPC Streaming is a TikTok Live trend where creators mimic the repetitive, scripted behavior of video game non-playable characters (NPCs), reacting to viewer gifts with pre-programmed phrases and gestures. The format originated with Japanese TikToker @natuecoco in early 2022 and exploded into mainstream awareness in July 2023 when Montréal-based creator PinkyDoll went viral with her signature catchphrase \"Ice cream so good\"[1]. The trend turned TikTok's gifting system into an interactive game, with top creators earning thousands of dollars per stream[3].","tags":[],"howToUse":["**Go live on TikTok** and establish a character with a limited set of responses. Most creators use 5-10 distinct reactions tied to specific gifts.","**Hold an idle pose** between gifts. Some creators lightly bounce, sway, or blink. The key is looking like a video game character waiting for player input.","**React to gifts with pre-set responses.** When a viewer sends a rose, say one specific phrase. When they send an ice cream, say another. The responses are typically short, catchy, and slightly nonsensical.","**Never break character.** Avoid acknowledging comments directly, laughing at yourself, or doing anything that would feel \"human\" rather than programmed.","**Repeat.** The whole point is the loop. Viewers send gifts to trigger responses, and the fun is watching the creator maintain the illusion across hundreds of triggers."],"imageCount":2,"nsfw":false,"images":[{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/npc-streaming/npc-streaming-tiktok-live-collage.webp","caption":"TikTok Live screenshot showing multiple streamers with 'TIKTOK NPCs' label and live indicator","width":480,"height":360,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/npc-streaming/npc-streaming-three-women-banner.webp","caption":"NPC Streaming","width":480,"height":360,"nsfw":false}],"historyUrl":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/npc-streaming/history.md","related":[],"popularityRank":1542,"license":"Meme images and history: templates, screenshots, photos and fan edits, many of copyrighted material or real people.
