{"id":"mlg-montage-parodies","name":"MLG Montage Parodies","summary":"MLG Montage Parodies are a genre of satirical remix videos that mock the overly dramatic editing style of competitive gaming highlight reels. Emerging around 2011 on YouTube, the format layers ironic dubstep drops, air horn blasts, Doritos and Mountain Dew logos, \"420 blaze it\" references, and Illuminati imagery over mundane footage to parody the clichés of Major League Gaming culture. The genre built a massive community on Reddit's r/montageparodies and spawned some of YouTube's most recognizable editing tropes of the mid-2010s.","tags":["mlg montage parodies meme","mlg montage parodies meaning","mlg montage parodies origin","what is mlg montage parodies"],"howToUse":["**Pick mundane source footage.** The more boring or ordinary, the better. Cooking tutorials, simulator games, everyday activities. The comedy comes from the mismatch.","**Apply MLG editing.** Rapid cuts, zooms, screen shakes, lens flares. Sony Vegas is the traditional editor, and leaving the \"Sample Text\" watermark visible is part of the aesthetic.","**Layer the audio.** Dubstep or trap drops timed to key moments. Air horn blasts for emphasis. Hit marker sounds from Call of Duty. Sad Violin for dramatic fake-outs. X-Files theme for conspiracy segments.","**Add the visual icons.** Doritos bags, Mountain Dew cans, spinning Illuminati triangles, Snoop Dogg dancing, \"420 blaze it\" text, and \"360 no scope\" references.","**Include squeaker voices** or voice chat clips for authenticity to the source material being parodied."],"imageCount":4,"nsfw":false,"images":[{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/mlg-montage-parodies/mlg-montage-parodies-definitive.webp","caption":"MLG Montage Parodies with central MLG logo, Doge, Doritos, Mountain Dew and internet imagery collage","width":680,"height":383,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/mlg-montage-parodies/mlg-montage-parodies-history-fair.webp","caption":"MLG Montage Parodies","width":480,"height":360,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/mlg-montage-parodies/mlg-montage-parodies-logo-chaos.webp","caption":"MLG Montage Parodies","width":640,"height":480,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/mlg-montage-parodies/mlg-montage-parodies-counter-strike.webp","caption":"MLG Montage Parodies","width":1280,"height":720,"nsfw":false}],"historyUrl":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/mlg-montage-parodies/history.md","related":["flappy-bird","lazy-town","bruh","kermit-sipping-tea","21-kid","illuminati-confirmed","dab","damn-daniel","be-like-bill","turn-down-for-what","honey-badger","21st-century-humor"],"popularityRank":1955,"license":"Meme images and history: templates, screenshots, photos and fan edits, many of copyrighted material or real people.
