Getting this wrong meant Facebook would crop or stretch your image.","**Account for the profile picture cutout.** Your square profile picture overlapped the cover photo in the lower left corner. The best designs used this overlap intentionally, creating interactions between the two images[4].","**Choose a style.** Common approaches included seamless blends between cover and profile picture, pop culture scenes framed around the cutout, minimalist photography composed for the wide format, and joke setups that used the profile picture as a punchline[5].","**Use a template.** Design-focused sites offered free PSD files with the exact dimensions and profile picture overlay marked out, so you could design your cover with pixel-perfect accuracy[5].","**Mind the rules.** Facebook's guidelines for Pages banned contact information, calls to action, and pricing from cover photos[7]. Personal profiles had more freedom, but the best covers relied on images rather than text."],"imageCount":7,"nsfw":false,"images":[{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/facebook-timeline-covers/facebook-timeline-covers-action-scene.webp","caption":"Eye-catching creative imagery used for profile header customization.","width":600,"height":369,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/facebook-timeline-covers/facebook-timeline-covers-pixel-bird.webp","caption":"Playful and creative approach to profile cover customization.","width":600,"height":367,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/facebook-timeline-covers/facebook-timeline-covers-multiple-versions.webp","caption":"Conceptual representation of profile customization and cover features.","width":680,"height":442,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/facebook-timeline-covers/facebook-timeline-covers-sports-jacket.webp","caption":"Personal lifestyle and activity-based imagery for profile customization.","width":680,"height":325,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/facebook-timeline-covers/facebook-timeline-covers-retro-gaming.webp","caption":"Gaming-themed and statistics-based timeline cover customization.","width":680,"height":327,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/facebook-timeline-covers/facebook-timeline-covers-minimalist-portrait.webp","caption":"Aesthetic artwork suitable for timeline cover customization.","width":680,"height":286,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/facebook-timeline-covers/facebook-timeline-covers-classical-art.webp","caption":"Sophisticated fine art approach to profile header customization.","width":680,"height":301,"nsfw":false}],"historyUrl":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/facebook-timeline-covers/history.md","related":["facebook-official","plane-emoji-react","please-do-not-swear-on-my-profile-thanks","trash-doves","area-51-raid","annoying-facebook-girl","chewbacca-mom","facebook-plain-text-password-storage-controversy","friendship-ended","fuck-me-yourself-you-coward","melee-hell","miley-cyrus-sex-tape-facebook-scams"],"popularityRank":2399,"license":"Meme images and history: templates, screenshots, photos and fan edits, many of copyrighted material or real people.
