{"id":"blinding-stew","name":"Blinding Stew","summary":"Blinding Stew is a 2024 absurdist copypasta meme from surrealist shitposting communities, centered on a fictional stew that causes 24-hour total blindness, treated with absurd nonchalance.","tags":[],"howToUse":["**Parody recipe post**: Write a straight-faced blog-style recipe with real cooking instructions, then casually mention it causes 24 hours of blindness. The humor comes from the mundane delivery of an insane premise[1].","**Deep-fried image macro**: Take a low-quality or over-saturated image of a pot of stew. Add warped text about going blind for a day. The more degraded the image looks, the funnier it plays[2].","**Reaction/reply format**: When someone posts food that looks suspicious, questionable kitchen setups, or anything vaguely ominous involving cooking, reply with a reference to the blinding stew[2].","**Lore expansion**: Add to the fictional universe of cursed food items with your own time-specific vision-loss dishes, though the one-day version is the classic[2]."],"imageCount":5,"nsfw":false,"images":[{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/blinding-stew/blinding-stew-wikipedia-article-photograph.webp","caption":"Wikipedia entry with photograph of the blinding stew.","width":800,"height":450,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/blinding-stew/blinding-stew-twitter-parenting-advice.webp","caption":"Twitter discussion featuring blinding stew as absurdist humor.","width":716,"height":867,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/blinding-stew/blinding-stew-wikipedia-perpetual-cooking.webp","caption":"Wikipedia reference material that became the meme source.","width":716,"height":750,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/blinding-stew/blinding-stew-wikipedia-full-text-article.webp","caption":"Complete Wikipedia entry for the blinding stew concept.","width":716,"height":600,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/blinding-stew/blinding-stew-animated-comments-woe-blindness.webp","caption":"Internet comments featuring blinding stew meme references.","width":716,"height":766,"nsfw":false}],"historyUrl":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/blinding-stew/history.md","related":["boneless-pizza","ohio-meme","absurdist-humor","space-lasagna","moth-lamp","001-of-germs","gay-little-monkey-boy-at-apple-store","chanty-beluga","eric-andre","meme-man","reginald","sealand"],"popularityRank":1396,"license":"Meme images and history: templates, screenshots, photos and fan edits, many of copyrighted material or real people.
