{"id":"all-star-shrek","name":"All Star / Shrek","summary":"All Star / Shrek is a 1999 Smash Mouth rock song that became a viral remix template and copypasta phenomenon through its iconic \"Somebody once told me\" opening, popularized by Shrek's 2001 release.","tags":["all star shrek","smash mouth","shrek meme","all star meme","evergreen meme","the internet"],"howToUse":["**Mashup/Remix:** Take any song and layer \"All Star\" vocals or instrumentals over it. The more incongruous the pairing, the better. Beethoven's 5th? Sure. Death metal? Absolutely.","**Lyric Swap Cover:** Film yourself singing \"All Star\" lyrics over a completely different song's melody, Jon Sudano-style. Commit fully. No winking.","**Bait-and-Switch:** Start a video or audio clip normally, then cut to \"Somebody once told me\" at the moment of maximum surprise. Functions like a Rickroll.","**Comment/Copypasta:** Post the opening lyrics line by line in comment threads, with other users picking up subsequent lines. Works on Reddit, YouTube, Twitter, and Discord.","**Shrek Crossover:** Pair \"All Star\" audio with Shrek imagery in edits, animations, or green-screen clips. The swamp outhouse scene is the go-to visual."],"imageCount":5,"nsfw":false,"images":[{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/all-star-shrek/all-star-shrek-piano-thumbnail.webp","caption":"All Star Shrek remix thumbnail.","width":1600,"height":1066,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/all-star-shrek/all-star-shrek-key-change.webp","caption":"All Star key change remix.","width":1280,"height":720,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/all-star-shrek/all-star-shrek-duplicate-faces.webp","caption":"Shrek duplicate faces still.","width":1000,"height":563,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/all-star-shrek/all-star-smash-mouth-cd-cover.webp","caption":"All Star CD single cover.","width":300,"height":300,"nsfw":false},{"url":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/all-star-shrek/all-star-smash-mouth-video.webp","caption":"All Star / Shrek","width":686,"height":386,"nsfw":false}],"historyUrl":"https://fcdtoybbbn2ccxbp.public.blob.vercel-storage.com/images/all-star-shrek/history.md","related":["100-men-vs-gorilla","arthur-fist","advice-dog","absolute-win","21-kid","we-are-number-one","baby-shark","30-50-feral-hogs","ah-shit-here-we-go-again","ppap","this-is-fine","aint-nobody-got-time"],"popularityRank":139,"license":"Meme images and history: templates, screenshots, photos and fan edits, many of copyrighted material or real people.
